what is (the value of) art?
I was forced to further probe this question this semester on a few occasions.
1. defacing a prof’s artwork which had been lying next to a dustbin.
is art that is thrown away still considered art? if so, what worth is it? who’s to say?
2. using a friend’s object of sentimental value, at our exhibition booth.

i’ve been pretty jaded this whole sem- designing funny products which i did not find interesting at all. and talking to people about our prospects made it worse.
then just last week, 13 april, i was reminded of my love for interior design…and i think the flame kinda rekindled.

just some thoughts
you know I was thinking about what you said about not quite being able to ‘do art’. In fact I’ve been more sensitive to this whole idea of the role art in our lives, since we were kids till now. Generally speaking, It’s such a Singaporean mindset for art to be boxed as ‘drawing, painting, photography, etc.’ but most do not know that art is just so much more than that. it’s sad that many do not...
